In an announcement on Thursday, the International Cricket Council banned the Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya for bowling for 12 months.
Dananjaya was reported for his bowling action during the first Test against New Zealand last month.
Dananjaya went through an independent assessment for his bowling action in Chennai on August 29. As per the results, Dananjaya’s action was found to be illegal.
Back in December 2018, ICC banned Dananjaya for the same reason. The suspension was terminated in February 2019 after Dananjaya made some changes to his bowling action and went through reassessment.
