ICC T20I Rankings: Rohit Sharma moves up to 8th, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan inch closer to top 10

Rohit Sharma moved up a place to number eight while Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan inched closer to the top 10 spots in the latest ICC T20I Rankings for batsmen released by ICC on Wednesday.

Kohli’s unbeaten 72 off 52 balls in the second T20I of the three-match series against South Africa that ended in a 1-1 draw, helped him gain one spot and reach 11th in the list. Meanwhile, Dhawan moved up three places to number thirteen after scores of 40, 36 in the 2nd and 3rd T20I respectively.

Rohit is tied at the eighth spot with England’s Alex Hales. Both batsmen have 664 points.

The series in India also saw the South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock move up from 49th to 30th, his highest position in two years, after scores of 52 and 79 not out.

In the bowling rankings, Washington Sundar is the top-ranked Indian. He moved eight spots to be placed in the 50th position.

Proteas wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has reached the top 20 in the bowlers’ list for the first time while Andile Phehlukwayo has achieved a career-best ranking of seventh.

In the T20I team rankings, India is placed fourth below South Africa (3rd), England (2nd) and top-ranked Pakistan.
