ICC Test Rankings: Steve Smith surpasses Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah jumps to 3rd spot

In the latest ICC Test Rankings for Batsmen announced on 3rd September 2019, Australian star batsman Steve Smith has reclaimed the top spot. With 904 rating points, Smith surpassed Indian skipper Virat Kohli who now holds the second spot (903 rating points).

The former Australian captain showed his brilliant class in the first Ashes Test, scoring twin centuries (144 & 142), setting his team for victory. Smith now holds a batting average of 63.2 in Test cricket.

In the two-match Test series against West Indies, Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored 9 & 51 in the first Test and 76 & 0 in the second. Kohli’s next Test assignment will be against South Africa, which starts on 2nd October.

After having a fantastic series, the Indian vice-captain jumped to the 7th spot in the rankings.

In the ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah jumped four places to grab the 3rd spot. Bumrah has been exceptional throughout the series, picking up his maiden Test hat-trick in the second Test against West Indies.
