Lungi Ngidi gives a superb answer to Netflix India’s question on Lungi Dance

South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi made an impressive Test debut against India at Centurion last year by picking up a six-wicket haul to help his side win and bag the ‘Man of the Match’ award. Soon after, Ngidi was roped in by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 and he helped the franchise to win the title in his debut year in the T20 tournament.

Ngidi missed the IPL this year due to side strain. He also couldn’t play in more than four matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 because of the injury and claimed seven scalps in those appearances. However, irrespective of his irregular play, Ngidi has gained quite a fan following on the social media.

His name sounds similar to the popular South Indian attire ‘lungi’ and fans have several times asked him whether he has seen or danced to the song ‘Lungi Dance’ from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone-starrer ‘Chennai Express’. To their pleasant surprise, Ngidi said he has indeed listened to the song during his stint with CSK at the IPL and added that he loved the rhythmic song and even danced to it. The Proteas speedster took his admiration for the popular number to the next level.

Netflix India, on Sunday, asked their fans on Twitter, “How many times do you hear “Lungi Dance” in the chorus of Lungi Dance? Asking for a friend. #ChennaiExpress”

To this, Ngidi tweeted the answer: “14!”.

Netflix responded to Ngidi’s superb answer as well.

The pacer, meanwhile, has been picked for the Test series against India starting October 2. He has played in four Test matches so far with a wicket tally of 15.
