WATCH: Shubman Gill gets cake smashed all over the face on his 20th birthday

Indian cricketer and KKR star batsman Shubman Gill turned 20 on September 8, Sunday. The right-hander has been performing impressively with the bat over the last couple of years. And his efforts have borne fruit and brought him in the limelight.

In January 2019, the young gun got his maiden call-up for India’s tour of New Zealand. However, he was left out of the first three matches, and got to play in the last two ODIs when Team India captain Virat Kohli was rested. Gill could score only 16 runs in the two games.

He showed his prowess with the willow in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders, and also notched up a double hundred in a four-day contest against the West Indies.

The 20-year-old is now all geared up to lead India A in the unofficial two-Test series against South Africa A.

Former India left-hander Yuvraj Singh and Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya took to Twitter and Instagram respectively to wish Shubman Gill on his 20th birthday.

“Welcome to the 20s Mr. Gill long way to go. Wishing the future of Indian cricket a very happy bday @RealShubmanGill,” Yuvi tweeted.

Pandya wrote – “Happy birthday shubhu. Have a fantastic year! Not a teen anymore. Wish to play together with you soon.”

He also posted a picture with Shubman.

Besides, the birthday boy also uploaded a video, where his teammates smashed cake all over his face.

He accompanied the clip with a tweet –

“Thank you all for making my birthday a memorable one. It wouldn’t be the same without your wishes. And for those who smashed and poured food on me, your time is near.”
