Australia’s Alyssa Healy smashes record for highest T20I score in women’s cricket

Australia opener Alyssa Healy slammed the highest individual score in women’s T20 internationals with an unbeaten 148 off 61 balls in the victory over Sri Lanka.

The 29-year-old wicketkeeper beat broke the previous record of 133 not-out set by her team-mate Meg Lanning against England in July.

Healy hit 19 fours and seven sixes, completing her century off 46 balls as the hosts posted 226-2 on the board in Sydney on Wednesday.

In reply, Sri Lanka could manage to make only 94-7 in their stipulated 20 overs. Australia won by the match by 132 runs and secured a 3-0 series whitewash.

Healy’s maiden T20I century in her 101st appearance in the 20-over format is also the fastest by an Australian, and second only in the women’s game to West Indies’ Deandra Dottin’s 38-ball hundred against South Africa in 2010.

Healy’s unbeaten 148 is the fourth-highest individual score in all T20Is, behind compatriot Aaron Finch’s 172 against Zimbabwe in 2018, Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai 162 against Ireland in February and Finch’s 156 against England in 2013.
