Guyana Amazon Warriors continued their winning streak in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 by crushing the Barbados Tridents on Saturday to progress to the final at the National Stadium, Providence.
The Warriors, on the strength of a brilliant century from Brandon King, matched their highest score in the ongoing tournament, demoralizing the Tridents with a mammoth 218/3, the highest ever achieved in the CPL playoffs.

The Tridents, who will get another chance to reach the final on Thursday (October 10) against Trinbago Knight Riders, battled bravely but could only muster 188/8.

Earlier, Guyana opener King slammed ten fours and 11 massive sixes on his way to a jaw-dropping 132 off 72 deliveries.
King started with some exquisite fours that pierced the field, before changing gears with an aerial assault to race to the top of the CPL scoring chart. Replacing Knight Riders’ Lendl Simmons (423), King took his tournament tally to 453 runs, with one century and three fifties, at an average of 56.62.

Shoaib Malik (32 off 19), Chandrapaul Hemraj (27 off 23), and Nicholas Pooran (12 off 3) also punished the opposition bowlers.
