Ravichandran Ashwin made an immediate impact on return to the Test XI by picking up his 27th five-wicket haul on Day 3 of the first Test against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on Thursday (October 4).
Ashwin showed signs of his vintage self by getting the wicket of Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock with a beauty that had flight, dip, and turn.
It all happened in the 110th over of South Africa’s first innings. Having taken the previous two away from the batsman, Ashwin got the third one to hold its line after pitching, and de Kock made the mistake of playing for the turn, to only see his stump disturbed.
