IND vs SA 2nd Test: Kagiso Rabada and Quinton de Kock gets involved in a heated on-field spat

In the midst of Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s masterclass on Day 2 of the second Test in Pune, tensions boiled over between two South African players.

As India piled on the runs in its first innings, the South African pacer Kagiso Rabada and wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock were involved in a heated on-field spat.

The incident occurred on the first delivery of the 123rd over after Ravindra Jadeja defended a Rabada delivery back to him. Rabada, who casually threw the ball back to the keeper, ended up putting on display a wayward throw which was wasn’t collected by De Kock.

With the batsman not attempting for a run, de Kock wasn’t even looking at the ball when the throw came his way. Just as Kohli and Jadeja ran a single, Rabada lost his cool and received similar gestures from the South African wicket-keeper.

Rabada had a crack at de Kock, appearing to tell him to look at the “f***ing ball”.

De Kock then responded aggressively to Rabada, pointing to his head as if to say ‘be smarter’.

At the end of the over, De Kock was then seen having more words with Rabada, appearing to finish with: “F*** you mate.”

On the second day of the Pune Test, Jadeja went on to score 91, his second-highest score in Test cricket. Captain Kohli remained unbeaten on 254, registering his highest Test score and taking the side to 601 for 5 in the first innings before the declaration.
