IPL 2020 Auction: Date, Venue and Salary purse remaining with each franchise

Table of Contents

The IPL auction for the 2020 season will take place in December this year and, for a change, the BCCI has decided to conduct it at a new venue. The auctions have traditionally been held in Bengaluru.

The much-awaited auction will not be a huge affair. It will be the last small one before franchises disband next year and prepare to assemble new squads from 2021 at a mega auction. Thus, all the franchises are more or less expected only to add finishing touches to their current squads.

In the last auction, all the eight franchises were permitted to retain five players. The board is yet to announce the number of players the franchise can retain, but one can expect the IPL governing council to allow the teams to retain the maximum number of players.

According to ESPNcricnfo, all eight franchises were on Monday told that the trading window would close on November 14. All the eight-franchise owners were given ₹85 crores to build their teams for the upcoming IPL season and now will be given an amount of ₹3 crores in addition to the remaining balance from the last auction.
