Sheffield Shield: WATCH – Alex Carey takes a sensational flying catch to dismiss Matt Renshaw

Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey took a sensational flying catch in the domestic Sheffield Shield tournament.

Queensland opening batsman Matt Renshaw tried to flick an Aston Agar delivery going down the leg-side. But Carey dived to his right and pulled off a superb catch, leaving commentators in awe.

Cricket.com.au shared the video on Twitter, and fans soon responded with high praise for the gloveman.

“Miracle; Just Miracle from Carey,” one fan tweeted.

“He should be the national team wicketkeeper in all three formats,” demanded another fan.

“He should be ahead of Tim Paine!” another fan wrote.

Alex Carey has established himself as Australia’s first-choice wicketkeeper in the limited-overs formats but is yet to make his Test debut.

The 28-year-old was also crucial for Australia as a finisher in the 2019 World Cup, where he scored 375 runs from 10 matches, averaging 62.50.
