India took the upper hand on the second day of the first Test in Vizag after Mayank Agarwal’s 215 and Rohit Sharma’s 176 helped the hosts declare at 502 for 7.
Soon after the declaration, Ravichandran Ashwin castled South Africa opener Aiden Markram (5), who has four hundreds and six fifties in an 18-Test career.
It was the first delivery of the eighth over when the off-spinner went through the defence of the talented South African opener. Ashwin tossed the delivery up outside the off-stump, and the batsman came forward to defend it. In the process, Markram left a slight gap between the bat and pad and the ball went through to disturb his timber.
The flight that Ashwin produced to pick his 343rd Test wicket impressed the cricket fans and experts.

By the end of the day, Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja had reduced South Africa to 39/3, having sent back Theunis de Bruyn (4) and nightwatchman Dane Piedt (0) too with India the happier side.
