The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2019.
The Junior Selection committee held a meeting in Mumbai on Monday to select a 15-man squad for the tournament. Reportedly, the competition is scheduled to take place in Bangladesh next month.
Young Kamlesh Nagarkoti has also made a comeback to the Indian Emerging Team for the Asia Cup. The 19-year-old, who has been out of action owing to a persisting back injury that kept him out of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) as well, has been declared fit.
He had last played a competitive game during the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2018.
“It was tough; I used to get emotional watching the IPL on TV. All my teammates were playing, and I was recovering from an injury.
“It used to be frustrating, but my main aim was to get fit and get back on the ground. I worked really hard for that,” Nagarkoti told Cricketnext.
The Rajasthan pacer isn’t thinking too far ahead and is looking forward to once again impress the selectors.
“Whatever happened has happened, I am not thinking about it too much. I want to show everyone that I am still the same bowler and I am looking forward to whatever opportunity I get. I have worked hard on my body, diet to regain my fitness,” he added.
