IPL 2020: List of players released by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the auction

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday announced the list of players retained and released ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction.

The franchise has released four of its foreign players: Australian big-hitter Chris Lynn, West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite, Englishman Joe Denly and the Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje.

KKR have Rs 35.65 crore left in their purse for the IPL 2020 auction and would look to buy some solid players for the shortest format of the game. While it was a forgettable season for the Kolkata-outfit in 2019, some good re-inforcement might see them up in the points table next year.

The Knight Riders were not much acting during the trade window and only roped in Siddhesh Lad from Mumbai Indias. However, they have retained some of the big guns in Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill among others.

After a torrid IPL 2019, which was marred with controversies for the Shah Rukh Khan co-owned franchise, KKR would be looking to buy some steady players after most of them failed to impress last season.

KKR released players:

Chris Lynn, Carlos Brathwaite, Robin Uthappa, Piyush Chawla, Nikhil Naik, KC Cariappa, Joe Denly, Srikant Munde, Yarra Prithviraj, Anrich Nortje.

KKR retained players:

Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Lockie Ferguson, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Warrier, Harry Gurney, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Siddhesh Lad (Traded in).
