The ongoing day-night Test match between India and Bangladesh witnessed an incident that highlighted the spirit of cricket as the Indian physio Nitin Patel rushed in to attend Bangladesh batsman Nayeem Hasan.
Hasan was hit on the helmet by a Mohammed Shami delivery. It was in the 23rd over of the first innings when the incident took place.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli came running to the middle to check on 18-year-old Hasan. Then, physio Patel came down to the crease to attend to Bangladesh’s lower-order batter.
Commentator Sanjay Manjrekar said: “Now this great to see. This is the Indian doctor who is coming to look at the batsman.”
The BCCI posted the video on Twitter, captioning it as: “In the end, it’s all about the #SpiritOfCricket. #TeamIndia physio, Mr. Nitin Patel attends to Nayeem after he gets hit on the helmet. #PinkBallTest”.
