Taking a cue from MS Dhoni, Australian captain Tim Paine on Sunday pulled a lightning-fast stumping to dismiss New Zealand’s middle-order batsman Henry Nicholls at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
The incident happened in the 30th over of New Zealand’s second innings. Nathan Lyon defeated Nicholls with his flight, and Paine showed fast glove-work to whip the bails off, and replays showed that the Kiwi batsman was out of his crease.
Paine also received plaudits from fans and experts for his incredible work behind the stumps.
Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of ICC has shared the video of the stumping and came up with a unique caption to laud the Aussie skipper. “Sharp work from the skipper to send back Henry Nicholls.”
