AUS vs NZ: Tim Paine does an MS Dhoni to dismiss Henry Nicholls; here’s the video

Taking a cue from MS Dhoni, Australian captain Tim Paine on Sunday pulled a lightning-fast stumping to dismiss New Zealand’s middle-order batsman Henry Nicholls at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.

The incident happened in the 30th over of New Zealand’s second innings. Nathan Lyon defeated Nicholls with his flight, and Paine showed fast glove-work to whip the bails off, and replays showed that the Kiwi batsman was out of his crease.

Paine also received plaudits from fans and experts for his incredible work behind the stumps.

Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of ICC has shared the video of the stumping and came up with a unique caption to laud the Aussie skipper. “Sharp work from the skipper to send back Henry Nicholls.”

Australia thumped New Zealand in the Boxing Day Test by 247 runs and sealed the series. The hosts won the first Test in Perth by 296 runs.

Travis Head was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his stellar 114 in the first innings. Pat Cummins took a fifer in the first innings, whereas Nathan Lyon took four wickets in the second innings.
