Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has returned to India’s T20I and ODI squads for upcoming home series against Sri Lanka and Australia. Opener Rohit Sharma has been rested from the T20Is while fit-again Shikhar Dhawan was named in both the squads announced on Monday.

Indian speedster Mohammed Shami, meanwhile, has been rested from next month’s T20I series vs Sri Lanka.

Bumrah will return to competitive cricket after four months, having recovered from a stress fracture.  He is ranked sixth in the latest released ICC Test bowler rankings and is No. 1 in the ODI rankings.

“Jasprit Bumrah is back in both the teams for Sri Lanka and Australia, and we have rested Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami for the Sri Lanka T20s. Shikhar Dhawan also comes back, and Sanju Samson will be the back-up opener in T20s,” MSK Prasad, the chairman of selectors, told reporters at an informal gathering after squad selection.

India will take on Sri Lanka in three T20Is from January 5, followed by three ODIs against Australia from January 14.
