IPL Auction 2020 shortlist

IPL 2020: 332 players shortlisted for the auction; Eoin Morgan and Glenn Maxwell likely to spark a bidding war

A total of 332 players have been shortlisted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction to be held in Kolkata on December 19.

The initial number of registered players was 991, which was later trimmed down to 332 by the IPL Governing Council.

As per the reposts in Sportstar, the final list comprises of 19 Indian capped players and 24 new entrants, including West Indies fast bowler Kesrick Williams and Australian duo of Daniel Christian and Adam Zampa. Among the Indian players, Robin Uthappa has set himself a base price of Rs 1.5 crore, followed by Jaydev Unadkat – highest buy for the last two seasons – at Rs 1 crore.

It being a relatively smaller auction, a total of 73 slots will be filled by the eight franchises, of which 29 have to be overseas players.

Bidding war

During the auction, a few of the top international players in the higher base price category are expected to start a bidding war. The likes of Glenn Maxwell, Eoin Morgan, and Pat Cummins are expected to be in demand with most of the time likely to go for them.

Chris Lynn, who was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is another player in the top base price list along with Chris Morris, Aaron Finch, and Jason Roy.

As of now, the auction is set to begin at 10 AM IST on December 19. But there are speculations that it might be pushed to the prime time slot with only 73 slots to be filled.

However, the BCCI and the official broadcaster of IPL should agree to it, and there is no confirmation on the same yet.
