Meet the oldest and youngest player in the IPL 2020 auction

There is no doubt that the Indian Premier League (IPL) brings the highest level of excitement, and every year, fans across the world brace themselves to enjoy the biggest carnival of T20 cricket.

The 13th edition of IPL will be played in March-April next year. Before this, the official auction will take place in Kolkata on December 19.

Over the years, franchisees have gone for all sorts of players irrespective of their age. Be it if a player is young or old, as long as one has talent, there is an assurance that he will find a place in either of the teams participating in the auction.

Only once in a blue moon, one would see a player who is approaching his 50s and continue to play the exciting game. Pravin Tambe is one such rare cricketer who enters in the auction list with the maximum age.

Tambe is currently 48 years old. He has played for three IPL franchises in the past, namely Rajasthan Royals, Gujrat Lions, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In 2014, Tambe, while playing for Royals, picked up 15 wickets in 13 games at an economy rate of 7.27.

From Rashid Khan to Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the talent that Afghanistan produced is extraordinary. In the upcoming auction, Afghanistan’s spinner Noor Ahmad Lakanwal is set to become the youngest player who can get an IPL deal. The left-arm wrist-spinner is just 14 years old.

Ahmad was also the Emerging Cricketer in the Sphageeza League – Afghanistan’s franchise-based domestic tournament. He is in the Afghanistan squad for the 2020 U-19 World Cup, which begins in South Africa next month.
