Netizens compare Ravichandran Ashwin with Mushfiqur Rahim after Tamil Nadu’s loss in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final

Karnataka defended their Syed Mushtaq Ali title as they beat Tamil Nadu by one run in a nail-biting encounter at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on Sunday.

Credit goes to Karnataka skipper Manish Pandey for playing a sensational knock of 60 not out off just 45 balls before the bowlers fired in unison to help the side retain the trophy. Pandey’s blitzkrieg included four boundaries and two sixes.

Ravichandran Ashwin left red-faced

India ace Ravichandran Ashwin, nonetheless, went through a range of emotions during the SMAT final and was trolled brutally on social media for his premature celebration. When he hit Krishnappa Gowtham for two successive fours in the last over, he let his emotions get the better of him. Ashwin was seen shouting and punching the air in delight.

But the celebration turned out to be premature – like Mushfiqur Rahim’s celebration had been in the 2016 T20 World Cup against India. Mushfiqur also celebrated in the same manner after hitting a boundary off Hardik Pandya in the final before being dismissed, and Bangladesh went on to lose the game against India by one run.

And seeing Ravi Ashwin doing the same, the fans could not stop themselves from comparing him with the Bangladesh star and trolled him.
