Twitter erupts as Rohit Sharma becomes fastest batsman to smash 400 international sixes

Indian opener Rohit Sharma on Wednesday added yet another feather in his illustrious cap as he became the fastest batsman across the world to smash 400 international sixes.

Rohit achieved the record feat during the third and final T20I of the three-match series against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old created the record when he hit a Sheldon Cottrell delivery in the third over towards deep midwicket for the first six of the match after Kieron Pollard won the toss and asked Virat Kohli & Co. to bat first.

By achieving the landmark in his 354th international match across formats, Rohit has now left the Windies veteran Chris Gayle and Pakistan’s former all-rounder Shahid Afridi behind.

While Gayle reached the milestone figure in 414 matches across all formats, Afridi took 446 games to achieve the feat.

Meanwhile, India managed a massive total of 240/3 in the series decider. Rohit (71 off 34), KL Rahul (91 off 56) and Virat Kohli (70 not out off 29) were the half-centurions for the hosts.
