Dhoni last played for India in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. The 38-year-old, who missed India’s last four limited-overs series, hasn’t been picked in the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka and Australia.
Meanwhile, Pant recently featured in the ODI series against West Indies. Amid the criticism over his poor keeping behind the stumps, the southpaw played a couple of valuable knocks in the 50-overs format.
