In the ongoing series against Pakistan, Steve Smith could manage only 40 runs in both Tests but sealed the momentum in the hosts’ favor with a spectacular catch on Day 3 of the Pink ball Test.
It happened in the fifth over of Pakistan’s second innings, which was bowled by Mitchell Starc. On the final ball, Starc bowled a full delivery, which had swung away as Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali looked to play it to the leg side only to get an outside edge. Smith, who was fielding in the slips, dived towards his right and took a screamer with both the hands.

Pakistan also lost their hero of first innings, Babar Azam, this time for just eight runs, caught behind by Tim Paine off Josh Hazlewood, and the team faltered to 20/3 inside the first ten overs. At stumps, Pakistan was 39/3, trailing by 248 runs with seven wickets in hand and Shan Masood (14) and Asad Shafiq (8) at the crease.
