Yasir Shah opens up about his wacky celebration after scoring maiden Test century against Australia

Pakistan’s Yasir Shah stole the limelight on the third day of the Pink Ball Test as he scored a mesmerizing ton against the hosts Australia.

Shah also ventured his name in the record books as he became the eighth Pakistani and first after the 1990s to score a century at the Adelaide Oval.

The 33-year has revealed that he envisioned himself scoring a ton before the start of the play.

“When we were on our way to the ground in the morning, I had this thought in my mind that I will bat throughout the day,” said Shah.

“And if I bat throughout the day, I will make a century. That was exactly what I was talking to my friends Naseem Shah and Muhammad Musa about this morning. Then, I went to the nets and batted and kept thinking about batting throughout the day,” he added.

Before reaching his hundred, Shah was dropped by Marnus Labuschagne on 43. However, the leg-spinner capitalized the opportunity and scored his maiden Test century.

Yasir celebrated the feat by jumping in the air and waving his bat like a helicopter towards the crowd.

“I tried my best to make sure I spend a lot of time at the crease. When you do that, you get set, and you find batting becomes easier. It’s tough against this world-class Australian bowling attack, and to score a century against them was good,” said Shah.

Speaking about the match, Australia has defeated Pakistan by an innings and 48 runs, and it’s a series whitewash.

By such a clinical performance, the Aussies have earned 120 points, and are now at the second position with 176 points in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

David Warner was named the ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’ for his scores of 154 and 335 in the two Tests.
