ICC announces Test XI of the year 2019; names Virat Kohli as captain

Virat Kohli has been named as the captain of the ICC Test Team of the Year 2019.

The International Cricket Council on Tuesday announced the final XI of the Tests which features two Indian players while five Australians have made the cut for the Test team.

Apart from Australia and India, three players have made it to the Test side from New Zealand while Ben Stokes remains the only one from England.

Australian pacer Pat Cummins, who grabbed 59 wickets in 12 Test matches in 2019 and finished the year as the top-ranked bowler in the ICC Test Player Rankings, also won the ‘ICC Test Cricket of the year’ award staving off stiff competition including from compatriots Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.

Mayank Agarwal, Tom Latham, Marnus Labuschagne, Virat Kohli (c), Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, BJ Watling (wk), Pat Cummins, Neil Wagner, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon.
