The ICC Under-19 World Cup began in South Africa on Friday. Afghanistan defeated South Africa by 7 wickets in the tournament opener.
When it comes to India then it’s going to be a crucial World Cup for them. Being the defending champions, they will look forward to carry on the momentum and clinch the title once again.
India are the most successful side in the competition, having won 4 titles in the year 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018. The ‘Boys in Blue’ will begin their campaign on Sunday (Jan 19) at the Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein, against Sri Lanka. Apart from the Lankans, the Indian team will face New Zealand and Japan as they are placed in Group A.
Recently, the Priyam Garg-led side won a quadrangular series, involving the U-19 teams of South Africa, New Zealand and Zimbabwe.
