India beat Australia by 7 wickets in the third ODI to clinch the series 2-1. Virat Kohli (89) was cleaned up in the 46th over by Josh Hazlewood. But the captain did his job and set India on a path to win. He was well-supported by his deputy Rohit Sharma (119) who registered his 29th ODI ton in the 287-run chase. Shreyas Iyer scored a quickfire 44 off 35 balls.
Earlier, Mohammed Shami picked up four wickets, including the big wicket of Steve Smith, who was dismissed for 131. The right-handed batsman tried to slog a big hit, but Iyer’s diving effort in the deep ended his stay in the middle. Shami also dismissed Pat Cummins for a duck in the same over. In the next over, he cleaned up Adam Zampa. Australia managed to reach 286/9 in their stipulated 50 overs.

Fantastic series win for India, among best ODI contests I have seen. After the debacle at Mumbai feared Australia might make a clean sweep. India fought back marvellously, showing gr8 skill, ambition and character. Congrats @imVkohli, @RaviShastriOfc & Team

Made the Indian run chase secure, first in a supporting role to Rohit, then taking charge. Well played @imVkohli
