India defeated Sri Lanka in the second T20I at Indore to take 1-0 lead in the three-match series. After the first game got washed out in Indore, both the teams headed into the Holkar cricket stadium to taste the triumph, but it was Virat Kohli-led side who registered the victory eventually.
Apart from the win, the Indian captain had another moment to cherish and it was a milestone that he achieved during the match.
In the 17th over of Indian’s innings, Kohli flicked a full delivery bowled on the leg by Lasith Malinga to deep mid-wicket for a single and became the fastest batsman to complete 1000 T20I runs as captain.
Kohli surpassed South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis to reach the incredible feat. The Delhi-born achieved the landmark in 30 innings while Du Plessis took 31 innings to reach the 1000-run mark.
