NZ vs IND: Jasprit Bumrah twists his ankle during first T20I, gives India another injury scare

During the first T20I between New Zealand and India at Eden Park, the Men in Blue were handed a massive injury scare in the final over of the first innings when their premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah twisted his ankle while bowling to Ross Taylor.

Bumrah straightway went down on the ground and was attended by the Team India physio. His teammates gathered around him as it once looked severe enough to rule him out of the remaining match. However, he stood up to finish his over and gave just six runs away in the remaining four balls as New Zealand finished on 203.

The 26-year-old pacer will be taken for scans later in the day, and it will be checked if he can continue playing in the next game, which is scheduled to take place at the same venue on Sunday.

India take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series

After losing opener Rohit Sharma (7) early in the chase, KL Rahul and captain Virat Kohli took charge as they thrashed the Kiwi bowlers all around the park. While Rahul slammed a quickfire 56 off 27 balls, Kohli scored 45 of 32 balls. The duo added 99 runs for the second wicket before Shreyas Iyer finished off the proceedings with a scintillating knock of 58 runs from 29 deliveries with three sixes and five fours.
