[Video]: Ravi Yadav creates world record, becomes the only bowler to take a hat-trick in first over on first-class debut

Madhya Pradesh’s bowler Ravi Yadav registered his name in the record books during a game between Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Madhya Pradesh (MP) in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2019-20. The left-arm speedster claimed a hat-trick in the very first over on his first-class debut at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Monday.

Incidentally, Ravi’s incredible record came against UP, the state he belongs to. The 28-year-old achieved the feat by dismissing Aryan Juyal, Ankit Rajpoot, and Sameer Rizvi. He removed opener Juyal by getting him caught behind the wickets. Then the pacer dismissed both Rajpoot and Rizvi by dismantling the stumps.

Apart from Ravi, South Africa’s Ricey Phillips had also taken a hat-trick in his first over in first-class cricket, however, it wasn’t his debut game. The spinner did play four matches before but didn’t bowl a single over in those matches.

Earlier, UP’s bowler showed impressive skills and bowled MP for 230 in their first innings, then came Ravi, whose hat-trick helped the hosts to pull things back as they reduced UP to 22/3 at stumps on the first day.

On Day 2, the debutant carried on the momentum and added two more wickets to his tally to claim maiden five-wicket haul. Ravi’s 5-fer helped his team to fold up Rajpoot-led side on 216 in the first innings.
