WATCH: Liam Livingstone gets hit on the soft area twice during a BBL clash against Melbourne Renegades

England’s power-striker Liam Livingstone, who plays for Perth Scorchers in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL), scored 39-ball 59 with four sixes and three boundaries. Surely it was a day for Livingstone but not the ideal one as the right-hander got hit twice on the soft area.

During the third over of Scorchers innings, Richard Gleeson bowled a delivery that drifted down the leg-side, Livingstone tried to slog the ball over square leg, but it missed and hit straight between the thighs. However, this didn’t stop the batsman as he kept on launching huge sixes.

But just after two overs, the unwanted incident happened again, and this time Livingstone was severely hurt. Will Sutherland bowled a similar delivery like Gleeson, and yet again, the English batter missed out to score big. The ball, this time, went to hit the soft area, and Livingstone was heard screaming, “OH, NO!”

The 26-year-old looked in pain as he fell just right after the hit. Commentators found it a bit funny, however, they were concerned for the batsman as well.

“He might not get up from this,” Michael Hussey joked from the com-box.

“He’s not in good shape.”

“Let’s hope he’s okay; it’s not that funny.”

“What’s the physio going to do?”

Earlier, Melbourne Renegades posted 175-5 in the 20 overs, but their lousy patch continued because even after scoring 170-plus, they lost the game. Thanks to the vital knocks of Livingstone (59) and Josh Inglis (51), Scorchers chased down the total with one over to spare.

Renegades will meet Melbourne Stars in their next encounter on Friday (Jan 10), whereas Scorchers will be facing Brisbane Heat on Saturday (Jan 11).
