Virat Kohli orchestrated yet another successful chase as India thrashed Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the second T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series in Indore on Tuesday.
Kohli smashed Lahiru Kumara for a six to seal a clinical victory, which came with 15 balls to spare as the Indian top-order complemented the spadework done by their bowlers.
Shardul Thakur picked up three wickets in his last over to help the hosts restrict Islanders to a below-par 142-9 with only Kusal Perera (34) managing a decent score on a traditionally high-scoring pitch.
‘Nataraja’ shot
Kohli hit a ‘Nataraja’ shot in the 18th over of India’s successful run-chase. On a 147.4 kph delivery from Lahiru Kumara, the Indian skipper casually just pulled the bowler effortlessly over the square boundary for a maximum. The shot in many angles resembled the shot played by 1983-World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev.
