Cricket world reacts as New Zealand hands India first defeat in ICC World Test Championship

Team India has faced its first loss in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) as New Zealand has crushed the visitors by 10 wickets at Basin Reserve in Wellington on Monday. It was the first loss for Virat Kohli-led side in 14 months, while for the hosts, it was their 100th Test victory.

The tourists began Day 4 with an overnight score of 144-4 but could only add 47 more runs and were bundled out for 191, giving New Zealand only nine runs to win the first Test. The Black Caps just took ten deliveries to end the contest and continued their dominance in Wellington, where India haven’t won a Test since 1968.

When it comes to WTC standings, then India are still at the top with 360 points, whereas New Zealand have grabbed the sixth spot after they earned 60 points from the game and reached the figure of 140.
