KL Rahul slammed his maiden ODI century in New Zealand when the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman reached the three-figure mark in the third ODI against the hosts at the Bay Oval on Tuesday.
Rahul completed his 4th ODI hundred in 104 balls as he anchored India’s charge in Mount Maunganui after another top-order failure. He walked in when India were 62/3 and then shared century partnerships with Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey for the 4th and 5th wickets.
Rahul scored 112 from 113 balls with nine fours and a couple of sixes.
Here are the records that KL Rahul created with his 112-run knock at the Bay Oval:
- The 112-run knock by KL Rahul is now the highest ODI score by an Indian on New Zealand soil batting while outside the top 3. Suresh Raina scored an unbeaten 103 against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup at the Eden Park while batting at No.5.
- Rahul became the first Indian to score a century coming down at number five or below against New Zealand after his impressive ton in the final ODI at Bay Oval.
- KL Rahul surpassed Virat Kohli to take the second spot in an elite list of players having reached the three-figure mark four times in 31 innings. Kohli took 36 innings to achieve this feat while Shikhar Dhawan leads the list having scored four tons in only 24 innings.
- Lokesh Rahul has now joined the likes of Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni to have scored an ODI hundred while playing as a designated wicketkeeper.
