Bollywood actress and Kings XI Punjab co-owner in the IPL, Preity Zinta has congratulated Team India for beating Bangladesh by 18 runs in their second match of the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Preity took to Twitter to share her happiness on Harmanpreet Kaur & Co.’s achievement.

“What an amazing victory by Team India! Congratulations team #Proud #INDvsBAN #ting @BCCIWomen,” she wrote.

Taapsee Pannu also hailed the women in blue for their second win in the tournament. She tweeted, “That’s the way girls !!!!! Come on! Onwards n upwards #WomensT20WorldCup.”

After being asked to bat first, India Women were restricted to 142/6 in their 20 overs even though 16-year-old Shafali Verma scored a quickfire 17-ball 39 at a strike rate of 229.41 which included two boundaries and four maximums. Her dismissal opened up the floodgates for the Bangladesh bowlers.

In reply, wickets falling at regular intervals disturbed Salma Khatun-led side’s rhythm in the run chase as Bangladesh could only manage to get to 124/8 in their stipulated overs.

India will now face the tournament favorites New Zealand at the Junction Oval in Melbourne on Thursday.
