Soumya Sarkar’s wedding marred by an unpleasant incident

Bangladesh all-rounder Soumya Sarkar started a new inning on Wednesday when he got hitched to Prionti Debnath Puja.

The wedding ceremony took place in Khulna with all the rituals in the presence of local VIPs and few members from the cricket fraternity. Puja, who hails from Tutpara in Khulna, passed her ‘O’ level examination this year from an English medium school in Dhaka.

However, Sarkar’s wedding was marred with an unpleasant incident taking place and the 27-year-old had to face embarrassment and trouble even on the most memorable day of his life.

Well, the happy occasion was disrupted by a scuffle over the theft of as many as seven mobile phones, though the police later arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control

BDCricTime reported that all the seven cell phones belonged to the bridegroom’s side including one of Soumya’s father. The culprits were, however, caught red-handed but a big brawl started with the suspects attacking the player’s family. Also, the media persons present at the venue were stopped from capturing the incident.

Soumya skipped the recently concluded one-off Test against Zimbabwe in Mirpur which the hosts won by an innings and 106 runs and will not play in the first two ODIs of the three-match series beginning from March 1.

The all-rounder has so far played 15 Tests, 55 ODIs and 48 T20Is for Bangladesh after making his debut in 2014.
