South Africa defeated the newcomers Thailand at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Friday by a gargantuan margin of 113 runs in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup. It was the largest win for any team in terms of victory by runs at the mega event.

Recently, England team registered the largest victory against the same opposition when they defeated them by 98 runs. Now, the Proteas team has surpassed the feat achieved by English women.

Defending 195-3 – the highest total in Women’s T20 World Cup – the Dane van Niekerk-led side bundled out Thailand for just 82. Veteran Shabnim Ismail and all-rounder Sune Luus bagged three wickets each.

Earlier, South Africa opener Lizelle Lee smashed her T20I career’s maiden hundred and helped her side to post a mammoth score of 195-3. Lee became the second centurion in T20Is for the rainbow nation after former skipper Shandre Fritz. Luus, who claimed three wickets, also scored a half-century and remained unbeaten on 61 off 41 balls.
