West Indies fast bowler, Oshane Thomas, recently met with a car accident in Jamaica. It is reported that the car overturned after a collision with another vehicle. The incident took place on Highway 2000 near Old Harbour in St. Catherine in Jamaica.
The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) issued a statement regarding the accident. Thomas is currently recuperating from his injuries. The fast-bowler is responsive and conscious in the hospital after the mishap.
“WIPA extends best wishes to West Indies and Jamaica fast-bowler Oshane Thomas, who was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, February 16, in Jamaica,” the WIPA stated, according to Cricbuzz.
The 23-year old Jamaican played his international match back in January against Ireland at Grenada. Currently, Thomas isn’t part of the West Indies plans for the Sri Lankan tour.
“Thomas was reportedly involved in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2000 near Old Harbour in St. Catherine and was taken to hospital. WIPA’s executive and staff would like to extend our sympathies to Oshane. We wish for him a speedy and full recovery,” added the statement.
Thomas made his T20I and ODI debut during West Indies’ tour to India back in 2019. He is slated to put on the pinks of Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming edition of IPL. In the 29 games for West Indies, the Jamaican has picked up 36 scalps in both ODIs and T2OIs.
