After a series of incredible performances in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020, India were outplayed against Australia by 85 runs in the grand final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Australia lifted the World Cup for the record fifth time with thumping win over India on Sunday. However, despite their defeat in the summit clash, the Women in Blue has made the Indian cricket fans.

Where Indian Men’s Cricket Team captained by Virat Kohli is given due respect, the Indian Women’s Cricket Team gets little recognition. Even though Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. didn’t bring the World Cup home, the fact that they stood neck to neck with their opposition is appreciation worthy.

While fans recognize that it wasn’t been a lucky day for Team India, netizens also hailed them for their effort on the field. Even the film fraternity cheered for the Women in Blue. Celebs like Anushka Sharma, Athiya Shetty, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar have cheered for Harmanpreet’s brigade on social media despite Australia’s big win.

“you win some, you learn some! amazing talents and fighters, thank you for representing and taking us this far. Team India, always! #T20WorldCup #TeamIndia #WomensDay2020,” wrote Athiya Shetty on Twitter.
