Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-member squad for the T20I series against Zimbabwe on Thursday. Wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has returned to the national side along with medium-pacer Mohammad Saifuddin.

Bangladesh’s previous T20I series was held against Pakistan in their den, where Rahim opted out of traveling due to security reasons.

Right-arm fast bowler Nazmul Hossain has been dropped after he suffered an injury during the last encounter with Zimbabwe. Rubel Hossain, on the other hand, hasn’t been picked due to his lack of form.

The left-arm spinner, Nasum Ahmed, is the new face in the squad. Nasum has played 20 First-class, 36 List-A, and 17 T20 matches in the domestic circuit taking 75, 43, and eight wickets, respectively.

“We picked Nasum as he was one of the finds of the Bangladesh Premier League, and we need a left-arm spinner in the shorter format,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.

“Mohammad Mithun had to pave way for Mushfiqur Rahim, but that does not imply he is out of consideration in the shorter format,” Abedin added.

Both the T20I matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on March 9 and 11.

Here’s Bangladesh T20I Squad:

Mahmudullah (C), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Naim Sheikh, Litton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Saifuddin, Mahedi Hasan, Aminul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Shafiul Islam, Al-Amin Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Nasum Ahmed.
