Cricketing great, Brian Charles Lara, who is currently featuring for the West Indies Legends in the Road Safety World Series, named his favourite batsman among the current lot of cricketers.

Lara went on record claiming that he has admiration for KL Rahul over any other batsman in the world. The 50-year-old said that Virat Kohli is still the best cricketer in the world, but he prefers watching the Karnataka batsman play.

“I follow the West Indies, as you know. They did pretty well in Sri Lanka in the T20 version of the game. Around the world, there are so many amazing batsmen to look at. There is Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma. My favorite is KL Rahul,” Lara told a local daily.

India’s new-found number five in ODIs, Rahul, received the ultimate praise from the ‘Prince of Trinidad’ as the latter hailed his grace, technique, and aggression.

“He’s just class. I mean, when you are watching a player, you want to see him play, you want to see great technique, a good aggressive spirit as well. He is a great entertainer,” Lara added.

However, the West Indian was quick to state that Rahul is still second to Kohli as the best in the world.

“This is as simple as that. He’s no better batsman than Virat Kohli. Virat is the best batsmen in the world, but it’s just the preference of who I like to see bat,” Lara concluded.

In the match between India Legends and West Indies Legend, fans at Wankhede found it difficult who to cheer for between Sachin Tendulkar and Lara. Also, he featured in the Bushfire game between Ponting XI and Gilchrist XI.

Lara went on to show that he still has got it with the bat, and T20 is a format made for him. But the stalwart missed out on creating T20 sensation due to him being from another era.
