The Indian women’s cricket team arrived in their maiden T20 World Cup final on Thursday after rain washed out the semi-final clash against England in Sydney. Since there were no reserve days for the knockout battle, the journey of English women in the ongoing T20 WC ended. Although Australia did make an appeal to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a reserve day, but the apex body denied the request.

Due to India’s unbeaten run in the competition, the ‘Women in Blue’ topped Group A, and therefore they successfully booked a place in the finals. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will face the winner of the second semi-final between South Africa and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. However, if that game gets washed out as well, then South Africa being the Group B table-toppers, will qualify for the finals.

Indian men cricket team captain Virat Kohli reacted to the good news and congratulated the Indian women’s team.

“Congratulations to the Indian Women’s team on qualifying for the @T20WorldCup final. We are proud of you girls and wish you all the luck for the finals,” tweeted Kohli.

Another sensational player, KL Rahul, also congratulated the Women’s team and wished them good luck.
