England all-rounder Chris Woakes has withdrawn from the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). As per Dailymail, Woakes has decided to skip the IPL 2020 to keep himself fresh for the busy international summer.

IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) picked the Birmingham-born cricketer for his base price of INR 1.50 crore. Woakes has informed DC about his decision.

The sudden exclusion of English all-rounder would be a big blow for Capitals as pacers Kagiso Rabada, and Ishant Sharma have been suffering from their respective injuries.

England cricketers are supposed to join their IPL franchises after the completion of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

Woakes has earlier played in the lucrative league for teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The 31-year-old played 18 IPL matches in which he has scored 63 runs and bagged 25 wickets.
