As the seventh edition of Women’s T20 World drew curtains with hosts Australia successfully defending their title to clinch the fifth trophy in tournament history, ICC released its latest Player Rankings on Monday.

Player of the series, Beth Mooney, compiling a record highest tally in any edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup with 259 runs in six outings (avg: 64), grabbed the numero-uno position in the rankings.

Mooney, who top-scored for Australia with an unbeaten 78 off just 54 deliveries, amassed a whopping 115 off 70 balls with Alyssa Healy at the other end to take the gas of the Indian bowlers.

Healy entertained the 86,000 odd supporters at the mighty MCG with her vicious 35-ball 75. She jumped a couple of places to the fifth position.

South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt is the other batsman who gained points to jump 13 placers to the 31st place. Wolvaardt gave the World Champions a tough fight with her fighting knock of 41 off just 27 balls in the semi-finals.

Shafali Varma, who topped the batting chart after the end of the group stages, dropped down a couple of places to third place.

Among the bowlers, spinner Jess Jonassen, who was instrumental in the field, as well as with ball 3/20, achieved her career-best position at fifth. India’s Deepti Sharma is now amongst the top five all-rounders.
