New Zealand vs India 2nd Test, Day 3

The No.1 Test side and leaders of ICC World Test Championship (WTC), India, suffered a seven-wicket loss against New Zealand in the second Test at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Monday.

India were all-out on 124 in their second innings, giving the hosts 132 to chase, which the Black Caps pursued successfully to complete a 2-0 whitewash.

Opening pair of Tom Latham and Tom Blundell added 103 runs for the opening wicket, however, Indian bowlers did manage to pick three quick wickets, but it wasn’t enough as the target wasn’t big to defend.

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets while Umesh Yadav got one.

Earlier, India resumed at their overnight score of 90 for six, but quickly lost settled batsmen Hanuma Vihari (9), followed by Rishabh Pant (4) and unlike the Kiwis, Indian tail could not survive for long.

For New Zealand, speedster Trent Boult finished with tremendous figures of 4/28. His partner-in-crime Tim Southee took three wickets for 36 runs.

Kyle Jamieson was honored with the ‘Player of the Match’ award, whereas Southee was gratified with the ‘Player of the series’ award.
