The ongoing edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL 2020) continues to entertain its audience with their tight-matches, match-winning performances from international stars, comic instances on the field, and controversies.
This time around, the spat between Islamabad United’s Colin Munro and Multan Sultan’s Imran Tahir gained headlines in their return fixture at Rawalpindi.
In the previous encounter between the Multan and Islamabad, the United won the match by a handsome-margin of eight wickets.
This time around, the fixture turned out to be a rain-curtailed 9-over a side game, with Sultans’ winning the toss and electing to bowl first, keeping an eye on the DLS method.
By the fifth over, the men in red were cruising at 57-1, before Munro decided to slog-sweep Tahir. The Kiwi swashbuckler only managed to top-edge to the man placed at 45, Sohail Tanveer, for a simple catch.
Next came a trademark Tahir celebration, which forced Munro to call him a ‘clown.’ This resulted in an ugly spat between the two on the field, after the dismissal.
“I am tired of seeing him (Imran Tahir) celebrate like that and I called him a clown, and he took it the wrong way and then you saw what he said to me, so we will leave it at that, eh?,” Munro reflected on the spat, according to Saj Sadiq, editor of Pakpassion.net.

In the end, it was the Sultans who ended up on the winning side in the return fixture, chasing down a monumental 91 with more than a couple of overs to spare, losing just one wicket.
The United bowlers had no answer to James Vince’s unbeaten blitzkrieg of 61 runs, which came of just 24 balls. Vince tally of 11 boundaries and a maximum enabled him to bat at a strike rate of over 254.
