RCB responds after Sunil Chhetri reveals he would like to play for Bangalore-based IPL franchise

Since the sporting activities have come to a halt across the world due to the coronavirus pandemic, sportspersons are making the most of their leisure time to keep themselves engaged at their homes.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has also been on the rise in India – just like other countries – and the government has advised people to follow social distancing to stop the spread of the virus.

The outbreak of COVID-19 had also impacted the Indian Super League (ISL) 2019-20, as the last few matches of the tournament were held behind the closed doors. Even the final won by Atletico de Kolkata was held without any attendance in the stadium.

Sunil Chhetri, the Indian football team captain, was recently answering a few questions on Twitter when a fan asked him a question related to cricket. Chhetri has a massive fan base in India and the most celebrated player in the sport.

During the Q/A session on Twitter, a fan asked Chhetri which IPL would he like to play for.

The 35-year-old stays in Bangalore and also captains FC Bengaluru in the ISL. His reply to the fan’s question was: “I’m a Bangalore boy. That should answer your question.”

“We’re ready when you are: RCB to Sunil Chhetri

After the Indian skipper posted the tweet, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took upon themselves to welcome Sunil Chhetri. The franchise made a little video in which a jersey of RCB with the name of Chhetri can be seen. The jersey also sports the actual jersey number of the Indian captain, 11. The caption on the post was, “We’re ready when you are @chetrisunil11!”

Chhetri is a fan of cricket as well. During the IPL 2019, he attended one of the practice sessions of RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. There Chhetri was seen chatting with RCB team skipper Virat Kohli, who even introduced his teammates to the Indian football star.
