Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma donates to PM-CARES fund, Maharashtra CM’s relief fund to fight coronavirus

Virat Kohli and his Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma have pledged donations for the PM-CARES initiative and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. However, they didn’t disclose the amount.

Virat tweeted: “Anushka and I are pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund & the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many & we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens #IndiaFightsCorona.”

Anushka also posted the same message on her timeline.

Both Kohli and Anushka have taken to social media several times to spread the message of social distancing during these difficult times. Kohli joins a slew Indian cricketers, past and present, who have either made donations or pledged support to the relief funds.

On Sunday, India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane announced that he is donating Rs 10 lakh to battle coronavirus. Former cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir too, have donated to battle the novel virus that has claimed 27 lives and resulted in over 1,000 cases in India as of Monday.
