Wasim Jaffer, the Giant of India’s domestic cricket, feels that the former Indian captain MS Dhoni is still an asset for the Indian team if he is fit and in-form. Jaffer also reckons that Dhoni, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant can even play together for India.

Jaffer, who recently bid farewell to forms of cricket, opines that Dhoni’s presence will reduce the keeping pressure for Rahul while Pant can be included in the playing XI as a left-handed batsman.

“If Dhoni is fit and in form I think we can’t look beyond him as he’ll be an asset behind the stumps and also lower down the order. It’ll take the pressure of keeping off Rahul and India can play Pant as a batsman too if they want a lefty,” Jaffer wrote on Twitter.

While Pant, who was touted to be Dhoni’s successor across formats, failed to make the best of the chances which were given to him, an injury to the young glovesman made the skipper Virat Kohli play Rahul as a wicket-keeper batsman earlier this year.

Not just the Karnataka batsman was in sublime form with the willow, he also impressed everyone with his new role and gave the team management leverage to play a specialist batsman or a bowler.

Talking about MSD, head coach Ravi Shastri and newly appointed chief selector Sunil Joshi have revealed that if Dhoni performs well in IPL 2020, then he will surely be picked into the Indian team for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
